Kayla and James had a gorgeous backyard wedding in St. Charles, Illinois last September. It was a perfect early fall day in Illinois, and it was such a sweet celebration with their closest family and friends. One of their wedding photos was recently featured in the “Just Hitched” section of the June issue of Modern Luxury Weddings Chicago!
The Proposal
Kayla and James met in college at the University of Iowa! Kayla and James had friends that were dating each other and ultimately, that couple introduced Kayla and James who had an immediate connection. After college, they dated long-distance for a year. Kayla moved to Dallas to be with James and the rest is history! Kayla is a second-grade teacher, so James decided to propose to her at school. A teacher colleague of Kayla’s played a slideshow with photos of Kayla and James over the years while Kayla’s classroom full of students watched and smiled. At the end of the slideshow, James popped out to propose! All of the children cheered and held up signs that said, “Say yes!” Kayla was so happy to have such a special moment with James and her class.
The Wedding Day
The bride and her bridesmaids got ready at Kayla’s parents’ house where the reception took place later that day. All being major Bachelor fans, her bridesmaids surprised her with a video from Chris Harrison as they got ready where he wished her well on her wedding day and in the future. It was such a thoughtful and unique touch! Kayla’s bridesmaids wore burgundy bridesmaids’ dresses. They were all the same chic style and photographed so well.
Kayla and James’ wedding ceremony took place at Kayla’s home parish of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. After that, we took the couple’s portraits at St. Charles Country Club, where the wedding was initially supposed to be held. Because of Covid, Kayla and James decided to move their reception to Kayla’s family’s backyard. Kayla and James didn’t let a single detail go unnoticed on their wedding day. From the stunning white Rolls-Royce getaway car to the white and green flower arrangements around the pool, everything was absolutely stunning.
