Welcoming a new baby into the world is one of life’s most tender seasons — quiet, emotional, and filled with moments that pass far too quickly. Kennedy’s newborn session in my Franklin, Tennessee studio was the perfect reflection of that fleeting stage, filled with soft light, gentle moments, and the quiet joy that surrounds those early days with a new baby.
I first met this sweet family during their maternity session, when the anticipation of Kennedy’s arrival was just beginning to grow. Being invited back to photograph her newborn portraits felt like the natural continuation of their story — one that we’ll continue documenting as Kennedy grows through her six-month and one-year milestones.
Our studio session took place in a light-filled space designed to feel calm and welcoming for new families. With neutral tones, soft textures, and beautiful natural light pouring through the windows, the environment allows the focus to stay where it belongs — on the connection between parents and their new baby.
Kennedy was the perfect mix of sleepy and curious during her newborn session. Some moments she rested peacefully in her parents’ arms, completely content and calm. Other moments she was awake and quietly observing the world around her, already showing hints of the personality that will continue to unfold in the months ahead.
For this session, mom selected a dress from the studio wardrobe, creating a soft, timeless look that photographs beautifully and keeps the focus on the connection between mother and baby. Kennedy was wrapped in delicate swaddles and simple newborn outfits from the studio collection, keeping the styling classic and understated — perfect for photographs that will still feel meaningful years from now.
Watching these two step into parenthood has been such a joy. They are the kind of parents who move slowly, patiently, and with so much love in every small interaction with their daughter. Those quiet in-between moments — a gentle glance, a soft touch, the way they look at Kennedy — are often the most meaningful ones to preserve.
