There’s something incredibly special about being invited back into a couple’s life as their story grows. I photographed Sammi Jo and Derrick’s engagement session. Then their wedding. And now, their baby announcement. Walking into their home for this session felt like stepping into the next chapter of a story I’ve been lucky to witness from the beginning.
This session took place in their cozy home, surrounded by the warmth they’ve built together. Their dogs were right in the middle of everything, which made the session even sweeter. Pets always bring so much personality and including them made the announcement feel true to who they are as a family. The dogs hovered close, curious and excited, almost as if they knew something big was happening.
Sammi Jo and Derrick moved through the session with so much joy. Their excitement was easy to see — in their smiles, in the way they held each other, and in the quiet moments when they paused to take it all in. In‑home sessions have a way of slowing everything down. They let you settle into the moment and celebrate the season you’re in without rushing.
What made this session even more meaningful was the history we share. I love documenting milestones, but I love watching families grow even more. Being invited back again and again is one of the greatest honors of this work. It means trust. It means connection. And it means I get to celebrate alongside you as your life changes in the most beautiful ways.
This baby announcement felt like a full‑circle moment — from engagement, to wedding, to the start of their journey into parenthood. Sessions like this remind me why I do what I do. I get to tell stories. I get to preserve seasons that pass too quickly. And I get to walk with families as they grow, one chapter at a time.
If you’re dreaming of documenting your own growing family, I’d love to help you plan a meaningful in‑home session that feels true to your story.

You don’t need to have every detail figured out—just a desire to remember this season well. Whether you’re planning a wedding in Nashville or a family or heirloom portrait session in Franklin, Tennessee, I’ll guide you through the process with ease, creating photographs and heirlooms you’ll return to for years to come.
