There’s something magical about a proposal at Cheekwood Estate and Gardens, and Jacob and Kelsey’s will always stay close to my heart. Cheekwood has a way of wrapping every moment in beauty—lush gardens, quiet pathways, and that soft Tennessee light that makes everything feel a little more romantic. It was the perfect setting for such a meaningful chapter in their story.
When Jacob got down on one knee, surrounded by the gardens, everything felt still for a moment. The surprise, the joy, the way Kelsey immediately leaned into him—it all unfolded so naturally. Proposals move quickly, but the emotions linger, and capturing those first reactions is one of my favorite parts of this work. There’s nothing quite like photographing the exact moment two people decide on forever.
What makes this session even more special is that it wasn’t the end of Kelsey and Jacob’s story with me—it was the beginning. After their Cheekwood proposal, I had the honor of photographing their wedding, and later, their newborn session. Watching their relationship grow from engaged to married to becoming parents has been such a gift. Documenting a couple through multiple seasons of life is one of the most meaningful parts of my job. You see the same love take on new shapes—first excitement, then commitment, and eventually the tenderness of starting a family.
Looking back, their proposal feels like the perfect starting point. The joy they shared that day carried into their wedding, and later into the quiet, gentle moments of welcoming their baby. Cheekwood was where their next chapter began, and being invited to follow their journey beyond that moment is something I’ll always be grateful for.
These are the stories I love to tell—the ones that don’t end with a single session, but continue to unfold, year after year, milestone after milestone.

You don’t need to have every detail figured out—just a desire to remember this season well. Whether you’re planning a wedding in Nashville or a family or heirloom portrait session in Franklin, Tennessee, I’ll guide you through the process with ease, creating photographs and heirlooms you’ll return to for years to come.
