I am so so excited to be sharing Molly and Shane’s amazing wedding day with you all! When I first met with Molly and Shane I just knew we were going to have so much fun together; they’re fun, sweet, genuinely thoughtful people and IRISH! Heck yes! For those that don’t know, I’m also Irish, so this always makes me a happy camper! They told me about how their grandparents were friends back in the 60s and my mind was blown. How cool is that?! Molly and Shane were set up on a blind date where they went to a Kid Rock concert and the rest is (as they say) history. This was my first wedding back after having Ellie and I couldn’t have asked for a better day! Molly is one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. She greeted me with the biggest smile and hug as I walked into her parent’s home in Orland Park! She had gorgeous details for me to photograph including Badgley Mischka powder blue shoes, Kate Spade Keds to change into for the reception, a lace and tulle wedding gown, Coco Chanel perfume, gorgeous wedding invitations and more! SWOON! Molly was surrounded and prayed over by several of her family members and friends that morning. They were dressed in the most beautiful robes that Molly had found on Etsy. This image (scroll down to see what I’m talking about!) is so powerful. I just love it! She got ready with the help of her sister and her mom, and the finishing touch was her “something borrowed”…her sister in law’s wedding veil. Shane got ready at a nearby hotel with his dad and closest friends. His mom passed away so he chose to honor her memory by pinning photos of her on his lapel. Right over his heart.
Molly and Shane exchanged their vows in a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. Michael Catholic Church. The ladies wore long navy dresses by Azazie and the men wore navy suits from the Mens Wearhouse. It was one of the hottest and most humid days of the summer so far. No joke – it was over 100 degrees and Chicago had an excessive heat warning, but thankfully the bride found a hidden spot just off the road that was perfect for portraits. It had lots of shade and greenery to escape the heat. We were even blessed with clouds and an awesome breeze! WHEW! I love how their friends and family are so important to them. Their wedding party was large, fun, and always full of laughter! We were right next to a small lake for their portraits and I’ll never forget the groom and some of the groomsmen chasing the Canadian geese away from us! Always an adventure! haha! I also REALLY love the portraits we got of Molly and Shane. The way they look at each other will make any heart swoon.
Their reception was held at Gaelic Park, the perfect venue for this Irish couple! The speeches given by the father of the bride, best men, and maid of honor were so touching. They made several of us cry…including me! The guests danced the night away with the help of the Paul Windsor Orchestra (who are amazing by the way)! I’m genuinely sad that this wedding is over! Let’s do it again next year, okay? 🙂
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Donnelly!
I love when family and friends are important to my couples!
When two #enpbrides are at a wedding (and are cousins!) this HAS to happen! Love both of you ladies!!
