I’ve been waiting for Emily and Joe’s wedding for nearly 2 years! It feels so surreal that it’s now come and gone, and these cuties are now happily married. I was at the Lake Lawn Resort last year for their engagement session and it really seems like just a few months ago. They were married at the beautiful Lake Lawn Resort that sits right on Delavan Lake in Wisconsin – just a little over the border from Illinois. It was a gorgeous fall day. Emily and Joe chose different shades of red and yellow for the decor throughout their big day, which perfectly complemented all the colors around the Lake Lawn Resort. Emily looked stunning in her Maggie Sottero wedding gown! Her mom helped her get dressed as they remembered her late father who passed away unexpectedly last year. In remembrance of him, Emily sewed a piece of his blue plaid shirt onto the inside of her wedding gown and a charm with a photo of him was wrapped around her floral bouquet. The men looked amazing in their blue suits and red ties. They were SO funny and had me laughing all day. At their reception, they had lots of dancing! Also, instead of clicking glasses for the couple to kiss, they had a bell for their guests to ring as well as a jar to put money into to raise money for the Lakeland Animal Shelter. Such a fun twist on this tradition! The speeches were so heartfelt and the dances were deeply touching. In lieu of the father-daughter dance, Emily danced with her grandfather. It was such a special moment to witness!
