Matthew and Angelica were such a joy to photograph! We took Matthew and Angelica’s engagement photos at Northwestern University on a perfect fall day. Matthew went to Northwestern University, so we took their engagement photos on the campus in Evanston, Illinois, which is about twenty minutes north of Chicago. The fall weather was beautiful (as it typically is in the Chicago area!), and it allowed the couple to wear light jackets and warm scarves. Luckily, it was not too chilly for semi-formal wear shots too. We had a wonderful time exploring Northwestern’s campus, and it felt like every direction we turned had the perfect backdrop for their engagement photos.

Matthew and Angelica’s story starts with them meeting the night before Angelica graduated college. They met through Matthew’s sister, who is Angelica’s sorority sister. On their proposal day, Matthew tried to trick Angelica into thinking they were going to a movie but in reality, they ended up going to dinner at Theater on the Lake, a restaurant overlooking Lake Michigan with a beautiful view of Chicago. Matthew proposed to Angelica while they were taking a stroll around Lake Michigan. Also, Matthew planned a surprise party with all of their friends and family immediately following the proposal. They were able to celebrate their new engagement with the nearest and dearest people in their lives. What a wonderful way to start such an amazing season of life!

Matthew and Angelica are so much fun to be around. We had such a blast during their fall engagement photo session, and I absolutely cannot wait for Matthew and Angelica’s summer wedding this coming May. Take a peek at some of my favorites from the day below!
