A Chicago Home Newborn Session

I’m so excited to share with you all one of my favorite newborn sessions ever! I met this sweet couple and their beautiful baby girl, Lila Rose, at their amazing home in the Gold Coast neighborhood here in Chicago for their session. Lila’s mother, Cait, is a talented fashion and lifestyle blogger in the city. Check out her blog (Love Your Fate) here! This was my first newborn session after having my own daughter, Ellie, so this session was particularly special to me. I’ve photographed several newborn sessions before, but I had a newfound sense of what was special to a parent, what the baby needs, and so much more. I 100% understand now when mom’s need to go nurse or change a diaper, and I can almost predict it before the baby gets fussy which is super fun.

For these sessions, I always love to start in the living space to capture some casual moments in the place where they’ll spend lots of time together in the future. Another place I also like to take photos is the nursery! So much thought and love goes into putting together a baby nursery, so it’s always awesome to take photos of the baby in her crib and hear the inspiration behind the decor.
And you can never go wrong with ending a session on a gorgeous white bed, am I right?? This adorable family just “pops” amongst the neutral background. Below are my favorites (it was so hard to choose!) from this beautiful in-home newborn session!
