nashville wedding photographerThe night before a wedding always carries its own kind of magic — a softer, slower anticipation that settles in as families blend, friends reunite, and the excitement for the next day builds with every moment. Alyson and Chris’ welcome dinner at Southall Farm and Inn felt exactly like that. Warm, relaxed, and full of the kind of joy that sets the tone for an unforgettable wedding weekend.

One of my favorite parts of photographing full wedding weekends is getting to be present for these gatherings. Welcome parties give me the chance to meet your people — the ones who shaped your story long before the wedding day arrives. I get to learn names, feel the energy of your families, and understand the relationships that matter most to you. By the time I walk into the bridal suite the next morning, I’m not a stranger with a camera. I’m someone your family recognizes and someone your friends already feel comfortable around.

Alyson and Chris’ welcome party was the perfect example of why this matters. I met their families and watched the way everyone lit up around them. I hugged grandparents who were so proud to be there. I saw inside jokes, shared stories, and the kind of laughter that only happens when people feel at home. Southall’s warm summer evening backdrop made everything feel even more intentional. The golden light, rolling hills, and beautiful location invited everyone to slow down and savor the moment.

These are the memories that elevate the entire photography experience. When I know your people, I know what to look for. I know who to keep an eye on during the ceremony, who will cry during the vows, who will dance the hardest at the reception, and who you’ll want photographed again and again. It’s the difference between documenting a wedding and telling a story.

Alyson and Chris’ welcome party was the beginning of a weekend filled with heart — and I’m always honored to be invited into these moments.
