Ashley and Max’s wedding day was so much fun! They were married at a barn venue called Ashley Farms in Yorkville, IL on a foggy, drizzling day. Max was dressed in a brown tweed best complete with khaki pants and a navy tie, while Ashley wore a lace dress by BHLDN and the bridesmaids wore gorgeous navy dresses from David’s Bridal. The pocket watch that Max carried with him was a family heirloom passed down to him by his uncle. Ashley carried a handkerchief that was previous her great aunt’s and wore a jewelry set that was once owned by her grandmother. It was so touching to watch Ashley’s mom help put the jewelry on her … piece by piece. I especially loved how the baby’s breath in Ashley’s hair matched the men’s boutonnieres and that the crinkled flowers in the flower girl baskets were a compilation of all the flowers Max had given her throughout their relationship. I was stunned that she had saved them all and loved that she found a way to use them on their wedding day! So sweet!
This is a Irish couple through and through! Not only are their last names Irish, but Ashley teaches Irish dance at Tooromeen School of Irish Dance and Max plays in a band. I had the opportunity to watch him play (and see Ashley dance!) after our initial meeting and they are both incredible! Max not only plays one instrument but FOUR (including the Uilleann pipes, bouzouki, guitar, and tin whistle. Many of their friends are also musically inclined, and played their chosen instruments around in a circle to add to the atmosphere at their cocktail hour.
Their reception was held in the main barn and it was simply stunning! It featured 2 levels with a balcony overlooking the dance floor, several chandeliers, and access to the outside where there were hanging twinkle lights and a firepit (Yes, they were out there roasting smores!! YUM!). Each table included handmade caramels as well as cupcakes that were made by Nothing Bundt Cakes. I had these cupcakes for the first time this year, and I think it’s safe to say they’re my favorite!! I’ll admit that I ate 2 of them myself. SO good!
Ashley and Max’s day was incredibly sweet and special in every way! It was an honor to be there for their wedding and to have them as my last wedding of 2017! It was such a wonderful wedding season and I can’t wait for my next one in January!
