Emily and Chris’s wedding day was full of greek traditions and elegant details! They had their beautiful wedding day ceremony at the St Paul of the Cross church in Park Ridge and their reception at the ever-so-stunning Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel. Emily began her day by getting ready at her parents home in Park Ridge which featured the most beautiful room filled with tons of natural light. Her details were equistite! Among my favorites were her blue Badgley Mischka heels (some of my favorite wedding shoes ever!), the classic white and blue stationary, and the traditional greek eye that the bridesmaids wore on the neck of their dresses. I learned about the tradition/symbolism behind the Greek eye while visiting Greece several years ago so it was cool to see it incorporated into their wedding details! You can read more about this tradition here! Emily also had all of her bridesmaids sign the bottom of her shoe before leaving for the ceremony. This was another Greek tradition- a new one I hadn’t heard before! Apparently, you’re supposed to check the bottom of the shoe at the end of the night and whoever’s name has rubbed off the most is supposed to be married next. The bridesmaids bouquets included beautiful white roses and peonies, while Emily’s included a pop of blue flowers. Chris got ready at the Renaissance Chicago O’Hare in Rosemont with his family and friends. I loved his navy and white striped cufflinks, navy suit, and crazy colored “fun socks”!

As we made our way to the church for the ceremony, there were more details waiting! On a silver tray laid a silver chalice with the bride and groom’s names engraved as well as the stefana (greek wedding crowns). Emily and Chris also decided to include two types of ceremony programs: an English version and a Greek version. The ceremony itself was absolutely beautiful and it was such an honor to witness. The portraits were taken at the Milton Lee Olive Park next to the lake. It was the perfect place for these because it not only offers amazing skyline views of the city, but it showcases the water as well as the greenery of the park! After portraits we headed to the Knickerbocker hotel were the fun REALLY began! Smashing plates, the 12-step dance, and one heck of a mother-son dance…see it all below!
